SAYv ADOPTION HOURS!

Please join us at PetSmart Geneva for cat adoption hours MOST Sundays from 11am - 2pm

What’s the process?

1) You come in and meet adoptable cats and kittens

2) Once you decide that you’d like to adopt a kitty, you’ll submit an application (which you can do from your phone) – sayvanimals.org/adopt

3) SAYv team members will approve your application on-site

4) You can take your new family member(s) home!

NOTE: Kittens that are not fully vetted will be “foster to adopt” and you will need to provide proof that resident pets are up-to-date on vaccines and spay/neutered. For fully vetted cats, we expect resident pets to be up-to-date on vaccines and spay/neutered.

Please see other adoption requirements here: sayvanimals.org/adoptioninfo.

These recurring events are thanks to PetSmart Charities and an amazing grant that SAYv received to increase adoptions in 2025.

FAQ FAQ
How can I prepare to adopt a cat or kitten at the event?
Before attending, review the adoption requirements on sayvanimals.org/adoptioninfo. Bring any necessary documentation, especially proof that your current pets are up-to-date on vaccines and spayed/neutered if applicable. You can start your adoption application on your phone during the event to speed up the process.
What does 'foster to adopt' mean for kittens that are not fully vetted?
'Foster to adopt' means you'll take the kitten home and provide care while they complete their vetting process. During this time, you must ensure resident pets are vaccinated and spayed/neutered. Once the kitten is fully vetted, the adoption finalizes, making the kitten your permanent family member.
How can I be more effective in supporting the adoption cause during the event?
Engage with the cats and kittens, ask questions to SAYv team members, and if you're not ready to adopt, help by sharing adoption information with friends or on social media. You can also volunteer or donate directly through SAYv's website to support ongoing rescue efforts.
What precautions should I take regarding the weather or environment during the event?
The event is indoors at PetSmart Geneva, so weather is generally not an issue. However, dress comfortably and consider bringing a mask if you prefer extra protection around others and animals. Always follow any posted health guidelines to keep everyone safe.
Can I adopt more than one cat or kitten at the event?
Yes, you can adopt multiple cats or kittens if you meet the adoption requirements for each. Make sure you have adequate space and resources for multiple pets and discuss with SAYv team members to ensure the best matches for your home.
