SAYv ADOPTION HOURS!

Please join us at PetSmart Geneva for cat adoption hours MOST Sundays from 11am - 2pm

What’s the process?

1) You come in and meet adoptable cats and kittens

2) Once you decide that you’d like to adopt a kitty, you’ll submit an application (which you can do from your phone) – sayvanimals.org/adopt

3) SAYv team members will approve your application on-site

4) You can take your new family member(s) home!

NOTE: Kittens that are not fully vetted will be “foster to adopt” and you will need to provide proof that resident pets are up-to-date on vaccines and spay/neutered. For fully vetted cats, we expect resident pets to be up-to-date on vaccines and spay/neutered.

Please see other adoption requirements here: sayvanimals.org/adoptioninfo.

These recurring events are thanks to PetSmart Charities and an amazing grant that SAYv received to increase adoptions in 2025.

FAQ FAQ
How can I prepare to adopt a cat or kitten at the event?
Before attending, review the adoption requirements at sayvanimals.org/adoptioninfo. Bring proof that any resident pets in your home are up-to-date on vaccines and spay/neutered. You can fill out the adoption application from your phone at sayvanimals.org/adopt to speed up the process when you decide to adopt.
What does 'foster to adopt' mean for kittens that are not fully vetted?
'Foster to adopt' means you can take the kitten home before its full vetting is complete, but you are responsible for their care and must comply with vaccination and spay/neuter requirements for your other pets. SAYv will guide you through the process and follow up to ensure the kitten’s health.
How can I be most effective in supporting the cause during the event?
Show up with an open heart and spread the word about the event on social media. Completing the adoption application on your phone before meeting cats can help speed up adoptions. You can also volunteer, donate supplies, or share information to increase awareness and help cats find homes faster.
Are there any health or safety precautions I should take at the event?
Yes, please follow any posted guidelines regarding health and safety, including wearing masks if recommended and practicing good hand hygiene before and after interacting with the animals. If you feel unwell, it’s best to attend another time to keep everyone safe.
What should I know about the recurring nature of these adoption hours?
Adoption hours occur most Sundays from 11am to 2pm, giving you multiple opportunities to meet adoptable cats and kittens. This regular schedule, supported by PetSmart Charities and SAYv’s special grant, helps maintain a consistent flow of adoptions throughout 2025.
