SAYv ADOPTION HOURS!

Please join us at PetSmart Geneva for cat adoption hours MOST Sundays from 11am - 2pm

What’s the process?

1) You come in and meet adoptable cats and kittens

2) Once you decide that you’d like to adopt a kitty, you’ll submit an application (which you can do from your phone) – sayvanimals.org/adopt

3) SAYv team members will approve your application on-site

4) You can take your new family member(s) home!

NOTE: Kittens that are not fully vetted will be “foster to adopt” and you will need to provide proof that resident pets are up-to-date on vaccines and spay/neutered. For fully vetted cats, we expect resident pets to be up-to-date on vaccines and spay/neutered.

Please see other adoption requirements here: sayvanimals.org/adoptioninfo.

These recurring events are thanks to PetSmart Charities and an amazing grant that SAYv received to increase adoptions in 2025.

FAQ FAQ
How can I prepare to adopt a cat or kitten at the event?
To prepare, review the adoption requirements at sayvanimals.org/adoptioninfo. Bring proof that any resident pets you have are up-to-date on vaccines and spay/neutered. Have your phone ready to submit the adoption application on-site. This will speed up the approval process by the SAYv team.
What does 'foster to adopt' mean for kittens that are not fully vetted?
'Foster to adopt' means you take the kitten home while it completes its vetting process, such as vaccinations or spay/neuter. During this period, you act as the kitten’s foster parent with the goal of finalizing adoption once the vetting is complete.
How can I be most effective in supporting the adoption event besides adopting?
You can volunteer to help SAYv staff during the event, spread the word on social media, or consider fostering kittens. Bringing friends or family who might be interested in adopting also helps increase the chances of finding forever homes for these cats.
Are there any health or safety precautions I should take while attending the adoption hours?
Yes, please follow any posted health guidelines at PetSmart Geneva, including practicing good hand hygiene after interacting with animals. If you feel unwell, consider postponing your visit to protect the animals and other attendees. Weather conditions are typically mild, but dress comfortably to ensure you can stay for the full adoption hours.
How can I find out more about the cats and kittens available before attending?
Check SAYv Animal Organization’s website or social media pages for updates and profiles of adoptable cats prior to the event. This information can help you decide which pets you might be interested in meeting and adopting on the day.
