SAYv ADOPTION HOURS!

Please join us at PetSmart Geneva for cat adoption hours MOST Sundays from 11am - 2pm

What’s the process?

1) You come in and meet adoptable cats and kittens

2) Once you decide that you’d like to adopt a kitty, you’ll submit an application (which you can do from your phone) – sayvanimals.org/adopt

3) SAYv team members will approve your application on-site

4) You can take your new family member(s) home!

NOTE: Kittens that are not fully vetted will be “foster to adopt” and you will need to provide proof that resident pets are up-to-date on vaccines and spay/neutered. For fully vetted cats, we expect resident pets to be up-to-date on vaccines and spay/neutered.

Please see other adoption requirements here: sayvanimals.org/adoptioninfo.

These recurring events are thanks to PetSmart Charities and an amazing grant that SAYv received to increase adoptions in 2025.

FAQ FAQ
How can I prepare to adopt a cat or kitten at the event?
Before attending, review the adoption requirements at sayvanimals.org/adoptioninfo and consider filling out the application online at sayvanimals.org/adopt to save time. Be ready to provide information about your current pets, including proof of vaccinations and spay/neuter status, as this is required for both foster-to-adopt and fully vetted cats.
What does 'foster to adopt' mean, and how does it work?
'Foster to adopt' means you'll take home a kitten that is not yet fully vetted and care for it temporarily while required veterinary procedures are completed. You'll need to provide proof that your resident pets are up-to-date on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Once the kitten is fully vetted, adoption is finalized.
How can I help support SAYv Animal Organization during the adoption event besides adopting?
You can assist by spreading the word about the adoption hours on social media, volunteering at the event if volunteer opportunities are available, or preparing to provide a nurturing environment for foster kittens. Engaging with staff to learn about cat care and adoption needs also helps support the cause.
What precautions are being taken at the event regarding health and safety?
The organizers encourage attendees to follow any updated health guidelines, such as wearing masks if necessary and practicing hand hygiene before and after interacting with animals. Keeping personal belongings secure and respecting social distancing norms will help ensure a safe and positive experience for everyone.
How can attending this event make a difference for animals in need?
By participating in the adoption event, you directly help reduce the number of cats and kittens in shelters and foster care. Each adoption opens space for another animal in need to be rescued and cared for. Supporting SAYv’s efforts also helps raise awareness about responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying/neutering pets.
